This is a monumental time in the history of health regulation and the College of Chiropractors of BC is excited to contribute to and collaborate in this transition.

To mark this historic event, we are sharing a brief video about amalgamation with patients of B.C.’s chiropractors and the public along with community partners. The College is committed to maintaining the same service levels that you have come to expect during the transition.

As referenced from the college’s announcement in May 2023, the Ministry of Health communicated its intention for amalgamation to be completed by June 2024. At the end of May 2023, the Ministry proposed amendments to the Health Professions Designation and Amalgamation Regulation

On August 27, 2020, the College welcomed, Minister of Health, Adrian Dix’s release of recommendations on the modernization of provincial health profession regulation by sharing this announcement on CCBC’s website

On Wednesday, November 27, 2019, the Ministry of Health outlined a bold proposal for modernizing B.C.’s health regulatory framework. This proposal came in response to recommendations made by Harry Cayton in his report, An Inquiry into the College of Dental Surgeons and the Health Professions Act, which was released in April 2019.

Prior to the release of Mr. Cayton’s report, the CCBC was already engaged in significant efforts to strengthen governance and prepare the regulator for regulatory reform.

The CCBC commends the Steering Committee for their foresight and leadership, and for their work to depoliticize health profession regulation in the public interest. We look forward to participating in the government’s consultation process, and we are committed to working together to bring their vision to life.
