Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

CCBC’s commitment to a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace

The College is committed to supporting an organization that reflects the rich diversity of the communities it represents. It is recognized that a diverse and inclusive environment for the Board, committees and staff are important to ensure that the College is an effective health profession regulator.

What does diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) mean for the College?

Overarching our strategic goals and stakeholder priorities, the College recognizes the need to understand and address diversity, equity and inclusion.

At the heart of regulation is the public and patients’ interest. To fulfill the mandate of regulating in the public interest, the College needs to reflect the communities it serves and represents. Establishing the DEI Policy is a fundamental step in this process.

Our Inclusive Work – CCBC’s DEI Policy

In 2021 the Board approved a draft Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Policy based on the recognition of emerging inclusion policies of other regulators. In 2022, the draft DEI Policy underwent a rigorous review and consultation process with members of the College’s Board, committees and staff. On December 1, 2022, the College Board approved the DEI Policy.

CCBC’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Policy was developed for the recruitment of Board, Committee and staff members. The College’s DEI Policy is a framework that aligns recruitment and retention processes with the values of an inclusive culture that we strive to create and sustain. The DEI Policy was also established to support inclusive practices and respectful decision making through the incorporation of diverse perspectives.
