June 3, 2021 – Notice of Extraordinary General Meeting

The College of Chiropractors of British Columbia (the ‘College’) has received multiple requests under s. 33(5)(b) of the College Bylaws, from 15% or more of College registrants, to convene an extraordinary general meeting (EGM). Accordingly, the Board has approved the convening of a ‘virtual’ EGM from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, being within 60 days following the College’s receipt of the meeting requests, as required under the Bylaws.

The registrants requesting this extraordinary meeting have described the general nature of the business to be considered at the meeting as “includ but … not limited to the presentation of non binding resolutions following review of information relied upon by elected directors in the discharge of their duty.  A review of conflicts of interest and insufficient evidence to promote and enhance the duty and objects as a director will include binding resolution, bylaw 9 (2), to remove one or more elected directors.”

The College has received four special resolutions under s.9(2) of the Bylaws to remove the following elected board members: Dr. Johnny Suchdev, Dr. Jennifer Forbes, Dr. Chris Anderson and Dr. Paul Dhaliwal.

Under s. 35(1) of the Bylaws resolutions supported by ten or more registrants may be submitted in writing to the College at least 30 days prior to the EGM. However, as the date 30 days prior to the EGM falls on a weekend, resolutions submitted under s. 35(1) must be received by the College by no later than 4:30pm on Monday, June 21, 2021.

Resolutions received by that deadline may be heard at the meeting in accordance with s. 35 of the College Bylaws.

This meeting is open to the public. Directions on how to register for registrants and members of the public who wish to attend will be provided on the CCBC website and circulated to registrants when they become available.
